Believe it or not, but gum diseases can actually cause hardening of certain arteries. This is what Ahmed Rashid and his team pointed out in their research paper published in Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine during 2013.

The study focuses on the point that natural sugar present in fruits, honey, etc. as well as artificial sugar added in junk food and soft drinks can both prove to be growth drivers for gum diseases.

While interacting with reporters, Rashid urged the young generation to reduce sugar consumption as well as fizzy drinks and maintain good oral health in order to keep heart problems away.

In fact, one research from the US has already tagged sugar as toxic and addictive. Sugar intake is the second cause of concern after obesity epidemic in the US.

The research paper indicated the importance of reducing sugar consumption and points out that it should be considered as an important aspect in health policies designed by countries from around the world in the future.

Never ignore your oral health

Even in this era, there are millions of people suffering from oral health issues who believe that loss of teeth is what bad oral health results in. These people are not aware that ignoring oral health and avoiding a visit to their dental clinic can lead to osteoporosis, diabetes, stroke, and heart diseases.

Ignoring bacteria hidden between your teeth can prove to be unhealthy as the same bacteria can reach your blood stream via infected gum roots and spread the infection to other organs via blood.
